Obligation as Identity
Duty narrows the world. It restricts choice, limits escape, and defines identity. In Lanista, duty is not a temporary burden. It is the condition under which characters exist.

Not Free to Leave
I am drawn to characters who cannot step away from obligation. A man who can abandon duty at will is not constrained by the world. He floats above it. The characters in Lanista do not float.
Conflict Without Exit
From a narrative perspective, duty creates pressure without melodrama. Characters cannot resolve tension by leaving. They must navigate it from within. The weight of duty sharpens every decision.
Surviving Without Relief
Duty, in this world, is not heroic. It is relentless. And that relentlessness defines who survives. The struggle is not just against the world—but to remain oneself while carrying it.
